About Puerto Rico

The perfect academic destination

Puerto Rico is one of the Greater Antilles and it is located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, east of the Dominican Republic and west of the Virgin Islands.  Puerto Rico’s coastal areas add up to almost 500 miles (800km), and it has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.  The island has a rich biodiversity, an enjoyable tropical weather and a vast amount of landscapes suitable for all kinds of fun outdoor activities.

These geographical assets offer unique opportunities for studies in many scientific fields.  An example of the high level of the academic institutions in Puerto Rico is the professional career of one of our graduates, Dr. Janis González Martínez, who is the Director of the Caribbean Primate Research Center.  Another example is Orlando Figueroa, a Puerto Rican engineer with an extensive career in several NASA space centers.

Internationally known artists such as Julia de Burgos, Pedro Flores, and Tite Curet are just a few of the names associated with the excellence of the arts and humanities programs.  Furthermore, there is a long list of graduates whose professional careers have achieved international recognition in varied fields such as business, education, sports and medicine.

Puerto Rican’s idiosyncrasy combines indigenous, Spanish and African roots that attest to centenary relationships with Ibero-America and the United States.  These liaisons make Puerto Rico a bilingual (English and Spanish) academic alternative that offers the United States’ standards and accreditations with the added Caribbean and Latin American charm.

For all of those reasons, Puerto Rico offers a unique set of features that makes the island an incomparable academic destination.
